What is the VCC?

The Vieux Carre is the second oldest preservation district in the country and the Vieux Carre Commission is the legislative body that regulates any and all alterations done to the exterior of buildings in the French Quarter. The official boundaries of the Vieux Carre are N. Rampart Street, Esplanade Avenue, the Mississippi River and Iberville Street. All buildings located within these boundaries must comply with the VCC guidelines.
- Before making any changes to the exterior of your Vieux Carre property, including painting, signage and banners, it is necessary to apply to the Commission. Applications for alterations can be found on their Website
- All Meetings of the Vieux Carre Commission are open to the public are are held at 1:30 p.m. at the VCC offices, 334 Royal Street, second floor. Reqular VCC meetings are scheduled for the thrid Tuesday of each month, Architectural Committee Meetings are scheduled the second and fourth Tuesday of each month.
