Protocol for reporting street light outages (NOT traffic signals)
Sunday, January 27 2008 @ 07:06 PM CST
From the office of James Carter here is the the protocol for reporting street light outages
Call the Municipal Hotline at either 311 or 658-2299 to get a reference number. They will ask you the following questions:
- They will ask you your name, address and telephone number.
- They will ask you for as precise an address as possible on the streetlight. (if there is no address, is there an address directly across the street to use as a reference?)
- They will ask you for the cross streets
- They will ask you for the “pole number”. It will be something like “UA173”. It will be on a white sticker, about 7 feet up the pole. Some lights will have the number, others will not. But please check before you call in the report.
- Finally, please make a note of the reference number that the operator gives you. You can follow up on the status of the light by using the reference number.
